Spare wires? ,,spare loom parts ? Horn push contact ?

Post by tangerineT »

Hello all

I've found a partial loom in my boxes of stuff,, I just can't find it on any diagrams

It's made up of brown and brown /white wires and has an earth type ring which I assumed went on my left hand inner wing earth connection near the trunk hinge it has a single spade on one end with a short loop (maybe to allow multiple connections on the same spade?) , then there's about a foot of wire to the earth loop , another foot until a pair of spades ,, another 18 inches and another two spades to end the loom

Anyone know where it goes

Also got a black wire with white and green tracer (3 colours so should've been easy to find ) hanging my front bulkhead near to the left hand bonnet hinge

And finally a spare brown/ white on my steering column ,, now I know that one of these wires earth's onto the column shroud screw and another goes to the horn contact ring ,,but where does the other go ,,I cant find anywhere that appears to need it .. maybe both brown/ whites go to the contact ring ?

If anyone knows which horn push contact I need I'd be grateful as I don't want to order both types that are available from my parts centre . I've measured the height from the horn ring to the top edge of my steering wheel (minus butterfly push) and it's approx 30 mm .. im guessing I need something about 40 to 45mm

Thanks for any help , Matthew

Hi Stu

Under bonnet light loom is in ,,, unless I've got that bit wrong

I did think it might be a usa thing as I've nothing connected to my brake master cylinder switch and there's a buzzer listed somewhere on the various diagrams I've looked at

Do you have that black green and white wire ?

Thanks matthew

Hi Matthew
From my wiring diagram (SL35), I think your mystery loom might be ignition switch -> "buzzer (USA only)" -> door contact switch.
Cheers, Richard.

Thanks Richard

I was thinking along those lines myself

Previous owner of car had taped "master cylinder? " on one set of spade terminals and "brake pedal?" On the other pair

I checked my diagram but the brake switch on the pedals is wired from a different loom and different colours too

Any idea where that black green and white goes ? Or indeed any ideas on my other questions ?

Thanks matthew

Not sure about black white and green - will have a look.
I definitely don't have a spare brown+white. The one I have is the switched earth for the horn (connects to the horn push, which makes the earth circuit when pushed).

I've got a switched earth ie brown/white on each stalk ,, plus a brown on the rh stalk that bolts to the column

I'm assuming both rh wires take care of the horn ,but re the lh (indicator stalk ) I can't work out where to connect it
