Getting it off - the front arb

Well it all started with a wiffy petrol smell in the house. That was a lake of petrol in the garage. Took the front protection panel off underneath. I'm getting the petrol leak sorted but I can't bolt the front arb back on.

So to the question... Can the front arb be removed from the wishbones without taking one of them off.

It's a kind of push fit into the bushes at the ends, but how do I get it off?

You shouldn't need to get it off. Fitting the ARB starts with getting it into the bushes in the wishbones and then bolting onto the front crossmember.

Try supporting the car under the floor and then jacking up front hubs until you get better alignment.

Ahh yes I know I shouldn't need to, but I probably do

The rhs captive nut is cross threaded and I'm not convinced I can fix that without the car being up in the air. So a job for a pro.

I'll see what I can do but I think I'll have to take it off to drive it to a man to have it fixed!

That's why I'm asking!

In that case, I used a ratchet strap to pull the two ends of the arb together a bit so one end could be pulled out...

Let's hope I can get a tap into the scrogged captive nut once I've stopped the petrol pissing out!

bolt and captive nut cleaned up with die and tap, all happy again on the arb front.
Now just got to fix the fuel leak!
