Porsche 356C Silver Wheel Colour

Post by Layercake »

I am in the process of restoring the wheels on my 356C.

I would like to get a close match to the silver that would have been on the wheels.

I understand there are a few good rattle can matches out there however I plan to get these painted at a local garage, the sprayer needs a RAL code of something that would be an acceptable match.

Can anyone offer any advise on this one.

Many Thanks in advance.

I think what you want is RAL 7004 Signalgrau, although you might prefer RAL7001 silbergrau. I would check their paint chips first though.

How did you go getting that paint colour? I had a similar saga with my '62 stamped rims. http://forum.porsche356registry.org/vie ... 85&start=0

I eventually went with Wurth Silver with a clear coat over that.

Merv,

I still havnt got the wheels painted, I didn't manage to get a RAL code.

I will pick something that looks a close match to what it should be when the time comes.

I have had my steel wheels with a company in Belfast since December, they roll the edges to take any dents away from the edges and make them turn true.

There was a long waiting list, but I'm there now, paint will be next month, if anyone can help me out with a RAL Code I would appreciate it.

I finally got the wheels painted, left them into a good friend who has a paint shop in Belfast, gave him a picture of what I was looking for and left it in his hands.

I was happy with the results, he matted them down slightly so they are not too shiny.
