Last summer I got to visit a friend of a friend. Lovely guy. A real vintage motoring enthusiast family. Allsorts, really, but mostly pre-1920 and Italian four-stroke mopeds. Loads of weird and wonderful stuff, and amidst all this a stacked logo horn push steering wheel hanging with a bunch of other steering wheels by a steel wire from a ceiling rafter.

I of course had to take a closer look and it’s a 350mm Elite. Turns out it’s his wife’s steering wheel. she bought a fiat 600 back in the 80’s and this wheel was fitted to it. She still has - and uses - the Fiat but has fitted an original wheel instead. They were quite surprised when I pointed out that the Momo was probably quite valuable.

This week she came back and said she might sell the wheel, and asked if I could help.

It’s a silver 350mm Elite. Stacked logo. No date mark, no “pat. Italy” so to me that’s circa 69-73(?).

I’m not particularly interested in the wheel myself, it’s too small and I don’t really want to pay what a Momo is worth these days anyhow. I’ll keep hunting for bargains

I don’t know much about the Elite. Was this used in some specific applications?
This one comes with a Fiat 600 solid hub and a stacked logo horn push. Where would be the best place for her to market this? I suppose she would be best off offering the three parts separately?

Hi Guys,

I have been contemplating getting a new steering wheel for my car, I can't seem to get past Momo wheels although I have originally wanted something "different". I have seen a Moto Lita its a dished 14" with MK4 stamped. Is this size an issue for visibility of the gauges? My car is a 912E?

I imagine these are not vintage ones, is the quality that much worse or is it the patina? In terms of fitting I know I will need an adapter, boss hub is it? Is this an easy job, how does the horn work as there is no push or anything?

Picked this up off of ebay the other day:



I didn't buy it for the wheel - what I wanted was the 230 hub and the large crest horn button. I can now bolt these up to my GT and wear it with pride.



A question for those in the know - The steering wheel doesn't have a date code so does this mean that it's a late 70's?

Edit - just found a post that Andy made on Early S which tells me that it must be circa 1974 - 76.
