Looks lovely Martin, have you got much salt down in your neck of the woods ?

I had mine out earlier in the week, just for a quick spin but the gritters were out again last night so I'm stuffed again for now.

Martin,

The car looks great, really nice to look at.

Hope the MOT went well. Was that for your peace of mind? I don't have to MOT my car by law, since 1950's cars are exempt providing they are not modified.

I do all my own servicing and repair always have, but it does make me wonder what condition all makes of 1950's cars are in if owners just polish them!

Thanks Roy.

Under the impression I need an MOT to get her registered so thats still pending but I didn't realise 1950's cars were exempt.

Last time I drove her was on the Targa Tasmania and then back to Sydney so having been stood-up for a couple of years she certainly deserves a good service.

Here she is with her original owner Dr Michael Symonds (at his marriage) who was a local racing driver and track medic at the old Warwick Farm race track and a very close friend of Jim Clark.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Michael who must be in his 90's and his family.....as you can see he was absolutely delighted to be reunited with his car:

Great Pic's Martin. I wonder if Jim who had the same model influenced the Doctor into buying his Porsche? Super story and so good to have that history with the car.

Possibly the other way around - the good Doc owned 356's when they first landed in Oz, founded Porsche Club NSW and I understand with his wife they were the first couple to be awarded a joint award for driving their respective cars 100k miles.

Interesting to see Dr Symonds in a very dapper suit and tie greeting Jim Clark when he won the Tasman series at Warwick Farm in 1965 – see minute 4:28: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZf8ZI3pqRA

Also a nice group 356 photograph:

Russell at RSR Engineering did a great job of getting the old girl through her MOT and she fired up on the 6v button when I collected her on Friday.

Then off to secure storage for an introduction to my two other babies:

Despite the rain a good day - I'd forgotten just how well she drives :)
