Hi Did Porsche change the location of the oil pressure sender from by the oil stat to the pulley end of the crankcase at some point?
Is there any reason why the sender can't swap places with the pressure switch (for easier access in a 914-6)

Re: 72 911 oil press sender/oil press switch
Hi Maurice,
Just had a look at our 72 engine in the 914/6. The pressure switch is beside the oil stat, the same place as the pressure sender in our 911.
Is this not the most accessible spot in the 914/6? Just remove the air filter and it's straight in front of you...........
I would also think that it would give more accurate pressure readings than at the pulley end, beside the temperature sender and tensioner pipes (if fitted)
Cheers!

Re: 72 911 oil press sender/oil press switch
Hi Johnathan
Thanks for the info, I agree It's better to locate the sensor closer to the oil pump/stat and more accessible in a 914-6 but not so in the 911, hence, why Porsche located it at pulley end?
Cheers

Re: 72 911 oil press sender/oil press switch
Hi Maurice,
I couldn't quite understand what you were getting at until I was working on the 911 this morning. The Pressure sensor is quite accessible with the air cleaner off on my MFI car, and would also be on a carburetted one. Presumably they moved the sensor when they moved to the new-fangled electronic injection, when all of that gubbins cluttered up the engine bay, and it couldn't be easily reached at the back.....??
Cheers,
Jonathan
