bled the brakes on the 73T with ease this time, a first!

Will check them again tomorrow before saying they are really done, firm pedal, no air and the usual long pedal before action (compared to my Skoda...)

Drove up to the Fleet Air Arm museum at Yeovilton. Great place to spend a Sunday. Drove home again. That's all...

If I was to do it again I would probably do some things differently and I would maybe get Garry to do it instead however it is done and it fits and it is much more structurally sound and quieter at speed than before.
Well done

Took my left carb off as I suspected it was leaking. Unfortunately the gaskets in my service kit didn't fit :). Plus the gaskets to the manifold were slightly the wrong shape. However, I did replace the waster were I think the leak was coming from. I started the car but it was running very roughly until I noticed I hadn't reconnected the linkage

While it is snowing thought I would fit the LED replacement instrument bulbs so I can see the dials at night, or rather the speedo as the others are sort of ok.
Decided to follow everyone and replace all the bulbs.
Didn't buy enough. 16 of the things!
So, 1/2 a job done.. :?
Hate that kind of thing.

Next lot here on Wednesday.

Looks like old blue hylomar on that Carb Gasket

NEVER use any gasket sealant on the carb to manifold gasket, it'll get sucked up into the carb and cause a whole load of hurt :(

New dry gaskets only, and don't overtighten! :)

Bunked off work on Friday afternoon to go put some laps round Goodwood.

Image

Span it at St. Mary’s in the first session .
Kept it on the grey bit in the second session.
Third session going great until about 5 Laps in and something let go at 5000 RPM down Lavant straight.

Whoops, that’ll be another engine rebuild thread coming soon then.....

Only Big (wide!) Foot could have managed a bit of heel and toe before now.....

Image

....now resolved with a modified pedal box :) .......also took the opportunity to experiment with master cylinders and have gained more 'feel'......

Image

....also fitted my freshly (re)built engine and got an MOT.....

Image

.....nice drive home this evening 8) ......after living with the E for the past few months it struck me just how raw this car is.

Absolutely nothing like Sushi! :)
