I've never driven or even been in one, anyone have any experience of an early 928 ? Intriguing pricing compared to any 911 !

I have a 1978 Auto (red with Pasha) that I bought from the same seller as the car above....very nice guy and he used to own the Derek Bell CS Prototype which sold at auction for £230,000 a few years ago.

I spoke to him over the weekend , as you say very nice guy and extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable regarding the car ( and all 928's ) - I put a deposit on the car on Sunday, collecting it in a couple of weeks. Really looking forward to getting it. I was particularly keen to have an early car, with pasha - essential !

As I mentioned in my post I've never been in one, although I've owned a 944 and a 924 Carrera GT before so have some experience of front engined Porsches.

I'd be really interested to hear of your views / experiences of your 928.

Congratulations. Well bought. £30k or thereabouts might seem high to some but most cheap 928s are cheap for a reason.

Great that its a manual as it makes a big difference. I like my auto but it certainly gives the car a lazy GT feel. Lots of character, prodigious thirst and the handling is a revelation. Enjoy!

I bought one cos I think they are ace too, it was the first one I have ever driven. Mine is a fixer upper (cheap) but it made it from marseille to dundee and did the GT thing very well at least. Will have more to say about it when I get it back on the road in spring after a thousand little jobs and with new shocks, clutch and rear box bypass. Well excited!

You'll find that there is quite a bit less internet info and parts support compared to what we get used to for the ubiquitous 911, especially for the early 928s. The main UK 'forum' still seems to be a clunky old email list like 356 registry used to be!! Its actually quite a nice challenge though. You'll have heard about Paul Anderson, but Rennlist 928 forum is great and there are a couple of great independent specialists for parts that post there - Roger at 928sRus and Mark/Tom at 928s international. Not only did they have good used NLA/unobtanium clutch parts in stock, they gave me 50% off em in their christmas sale!
