Couple of incomings now available with some military history to them....

First up one of my favourites- a 1953 British Military issued Omega 53 RAF pilots watch from the nephew of the original owner. All original, fantastic condition, fully serviced and guaranteed.







Second is a box and papers Rolex Oyster Precision from 1971 and is absolutely MINT. It is in incredible condition for an original watch and has just had a full service so is also guaranteed.

It was bought locally in October 1971 by the parents of Michael Hardy Stephenson for his passing out parade on the 9th November when he became a fully fledged member of the RAF. There are London Gazette extracts confirming and his promotion to Lieutenant 2 years later.

Just bought my first 'Quality' watch, a manual wind Omega, 1966, Stainless Steel, restored, serviced and warrantee for 2 years, fresh light leather strap.
17 jewels and no idea what it is called.

Looks very quiet, classy and just the right size for my welding wire diameter wrist.
Probably paid far too much, but it really is nice.
I can see where the buzz is with old watches, and must avoid the subject from now on!

Bought it from the man who restores them, was in his small immaculate busy workshop which sealed the deal.
He had several Seamasters, all autos, and very nice, others far more expensive and older.

Mine was the 5th he had sold this week. Happy Xmas for many.

This will be my first and last real watch in my lifetime, came with 100% approval and a kiss from my wife.

One of the benefits of 40 years of marriage!

Christmas is coming and I'm thinking of buying this Baume & Mercier. for the Mother in Law.
I always thought they were a bit of a boutique brand and the cheap gold plating bears this out. Not sure if it's original as
the seconds hand at 6 o clock looks to be a different colour to the minutes and hour hands.

For Sale. 1961/2 JeanRichard Geneve – Aquastar 60. Mariana Trench watch






The deepest dive ever, was at the Mariana Trench in September 1960. The Bathyscaphe Trieste dived nearly 7 miles to the Ocean bed. More people have walked on the moon than dived this deep.
Rolex attached a watch / device outside and it survived the trip. One of the two pilots Don Walsh went on to be an ambassador for Rolex. It later emerged that the watch that he actually wore on his wrist on that historic day was his favourite watch - A 1958 JeanRichard Aquastar 60.
This watch was only in production from 1958 - 1962 and decent surviving examples are getting scarce.
JeanRichard then morphed the model name 'Aquastar' to a stand alone manufacturer brand name. Aquastar concentrated on serious diving equipment. The JeanRichard brand still exists.

I aquired this example from well regarded Cypriot dealer 'MyLocalTime'.
The watch was fully restored and serviced late 2015. The image shown is this actual watch during the restoration.

Case – stainless steel
Movement- Caliber Schild AS 1681 rotor automatic
Size – 36mm without crown
Bezel – Bi directional with factory correct resistance
Dial – Cleaned with original aged lume plots and markings
Hands - Skeleton batons. Could be re lumed but not advisable
Seconds hand - Allegedly the first 'lollipop' seconds hand on a watch.
Crown – correct 'Aquastar ' inscription
Crystal - Acrylic
Date - Every day changes smoothly without any ' encouragement '.
Quickset. Change to next date manually and then back to 9.00 and forward to 12.00
Caseback – Clean and 100 % correct with minimal scratches
Shock protection – Incabloc
Strap. 19mm. With either black silicon 'Tropic Rally style' or modern bracelet as shown.

Most advertised examples appear to be Franken watches with incorrect casebacks , hands and
haven't been serviced. These watches have now been re discovered and good examples are being taken very seriously.
One of the less desirable and later Aquastar branded examples sold last week on ebay for £ 2699

I discovered yesterday that my old Omega isn't waterproof. A couple of lengths of the Lido and the second hand stopped, soon followed by the rest of it. I carried on regardless and did my 500m
I've plonked it in a tupperware box full of rice in the airing cupboard but am open to better ideas

You may of washed away the oil in the movement. Unfortunately I think that means a service

You need to get it to a decent watchmaker asap. Hope the dial hasn't been damaged but the fact that the watch has stopped probably
means that water is in the movement. When you say old do you mean vintage or 10 - 20 years ?
