Fan Strap Bolts

Post by BILLY BEAN »

On a two bolt fan strap what are the "correct" bolts and their length? There are three possibilities I think.
Hex bolt.
Cheese head with alen drive.
Cheese head with 12 point drive.
All options will probably have a plain portion so what is the length of that please?
Thanks Kirk

Kirk,
Deffo hex. Will get back to you with dimensions.
Don't forget the "D E R A" marking on the head ;-).

Richard, Thanks very much for responding. Finding a bolt with the appropriate markings may be an issue. Kirk

Dave,
Thanks for the contribution. Typical Porsche with a number of solutions. Any idea of the plain portion?
I think "verz" is an abbreviation for 'verzinkte' ie galvanised. Kirk

I'm out Kirk. Dave's post prompted me to double-check and '71 is different from '70, so my info is not relevant.
'70 is as late as I go!

Kirk,

answer from question asked over the pond. :)

Original cars I've studied : 8x45 hex head ; 13 mm ATF ; Lobo, Dera , B*T , and probably more . The non -threaded portion is 20 mm .

Dave,
Thanks for the help. As I have a life time ban from the early911intolerantregistry, for reasons unspecified by our American cousins, I can not access the expertise over there. Very grateful for your help. Kirk
