Fitting door mirrors

Hi all

Wonder if anyone can help? Need to fit LH and RH Durant door mirrors to a LH drive car and was wondering if anyone had the correct positioning? I know that they are positioned differently on each side as the viewing angle for the driver is varied. Should both sides have access holes on the inner lip of the door or just the Passenger side?

Hope this helps. I was going to do it on mine but decided not to for the following reasons
- my car is Italian Spec and never had a passenger mirror
- Even if I did fit one, I was unsure what glass to use ( concave/convex) as drivers mirrors have often a different aspect from passenger ones, and I thought just fitting one I'd end up with the wrong mirror glass ( you know that etchine " objects can appear bigger in the mirror "

I know what you mean, I just think having some sort of view on the right hand side might be an advantage. The other trouble I have is that to get any kind of reasonable view on the passenger side requires very careful positioning.

I would suggest that you do not fit a Durant to the RH side on a LHD car. The Durant does not articulate sufficiently in order to get a proper rearward view.

That's why I decided in the end not to fit one, and the fact I was unsure of the correct mirror concave or convex, or if even you have a choice. I find the visability from an early 911 to the side and rear is very good just by turning your head ( provided you remember to do so and do it ! ).

Biily Bean is dead right.
I fitted 2 Durants to my LHD 911, you could see very little in the mirror on the RH door no matter what you did.
I converted the car to RHD and the LH mirror is useless....

2 mirrors on an early car look shite. Advantage of a LHD car is the huge amount of visability if you look over your right shoulder

With a 914 on the other hand... an extra mirror is a genuinely useful upgrade
