Spring Plates - Rear Suspension
Does any one have experience (with long wheel base B cars 1969 in specific) :
changing from a 901 333 003 01 fixed spring plate to a 911 333 009 00 adjustable spring plate from a later 911 before the G 50 on the earlier car and will it fit without any mods? If not, is there an adjustable rear spring plate that is not made by Sway a Way or Wevo?
Also does anyone have the specs or advise where I get a Porsche technical bulletin covering the lowered ride height of an early 911?
thanks

I've done this and it worked out very well, but I changed the rest as well from the later generation - the aluminum trailing arms, hubs, brakes, swaybars etc. Be aware on the spring plates that the big rubber bushing is vulcanized on at the factory. It's not available separately and is a royal pain to get off in order to replace with something like the Neatrix pieces. Best to find a really good pair with the originals still in good shape.

Hey Graezhoo,
Thanks for the tip. It might be better to go then either with the Weltmeister adjustable spring plate with different bushings or the Wevo (big money).
At this time I expect to be at the San Diego PC event on 17 Dec. Are you from the area?

I wouldn't worry too much about getting those bushes off - with a little heat we had them off my car in a matter of minutes.
Good luck.

Thanks Ian
I appreciate the actual experience. One can get smoke and mirrors and never really understand what is actually needed to be done.

Must have had a better source of heat than I did - I was using a butane bottle. I cut and torched them for the better part of a weekend. Smoke and mirrors didn't help either. My pair may have been especially petrified. At any rate, when I finally got them clean I replaced them with the Neatrix pieces but wasn't happy with those, so sourced another stock pair that were better, with the stock donuts still in very good shape.
