Which Oil for a 993

Post by Bootsy »

Not usually a fan of these threads as it's so subjective but given there are some established 993 owners on here ad they will have probably canvassed opinion before.....

Some sites recommend fully synth 0w-40 where others recommend 5w-40

Any opinions, knowledge please?

Pretty sure that's what I've always used but having had the car off the road for a couple of years couldn't be sure.

Porsche originally recommended various 5W-40 oils but I guess things have moved on since 94

Castrol Magnatec 5w/40. That's what you need. Yep, definitely.

having heard this before, it makes me wonder why a 0/40 synthetic should be 'thinner' than a 0/40 mineral?

Also can you still get good mineral oils?

And to the question, everyone uses something different, so it doesn't make a blind bit of difference 8)
