Re: New to 912 s
Hi Paul
we are at similar stages. just passed mot too, sent v55 off got my reg details in 10 days , now waiting for number plates to arrive so I can legally drive it!
just looked to see where my copy of the form is but must have binned it.
I found it very complicated as couldnt answer a lot of the questions, but doesnt seem to matter
as long as you put in historic vehicle in, its in one of the boxes near the top of the form, and when it comes to certificate of conformity etc just put N/A
make sure you send COA if you have one , and the pink slip, mot, cheque for £55, and I added a letter stating hope I have filled it in correctly with my email and phone number to discuss if any problems etc . You should be ok
I made a record of the form number too as a reference in case I had not heard from them.
next job is to balance the carbs and get it running properly

Scruffy little car up date .... bugger took car on little run around for time , car ran well no issues untill 15 miles in then oh no started to die ... thats odd engine running ok what the hell is it .. quick look around car drivers side wheel smoke coming out from whel bollocks what up now , off with wheel at the side of road to find front brake caliper locked on which was odd as this was a recon unit from max to find it locked on solid ? What the f@@k leti it cool down let off bleed nipple and they gave alittle on with wheel and back to unit to see what was going on , off with caliper all seemed ok gave them a clean out got it back on re blead then off again .. 15 miles later bugger me same again , new the drill thus time so limpes back to unit to swear a bit , sctatch my head and wonder whats going on ,after reading a lot on internet semes like it might be mastsr cylinde rod r not quite set up right . I empty all the fluid yet again clean out all the brakes yet again and adjust the master cylinder and let you all know how i get on any pointers out there peaple may be some one on here has had similar troubles ... at least i can smile it was a bloody blast driving it if only for a bit

Re: New to 912 s
Check the clearance on the brake peddle push rod 2mm free play rings a bell from memory. But on just one calliper I would suspect either a collapsed flexi or a stuck piston

Hi sean .. had driver side caliper off all seams ok , its the only one i had to get as the others where fine , all new pipes etc , i was wondering if it was the rod a touch to far in , all sems ok though but i have it all apart later this week and keep you up to date .how wasnthe show at weekend mate .

Re: New to 912 s
Rod would effect all. As Sean says, if it's just one could be either the calliper itself , dodgy flexi etc.

Re: New to 912 s
As James said - I'd check/replace the flexible hoses - they tend to break down internally, restricting (or blocking) the flow of fluid.

Re: New to 912 s
Scruffy little car update .. brakes sorted after stripping every thing down , the problem was pinned down to the master cylinder, i had the rod from the peddle to far in by a few turns .any way had 80 mile run around today still needs a bit of fettling runs a bit eratic every now and then at tick over , oh and the tank needs flushing out too ,had to change fuel filter 3 times !,,, and looks like it not be the last time either before the next weekend run around ,never the less it bloody brilliant driving it around at steady 55 60 no sound deading no carpets you can hear every rattle knock and crunch of gear box selction as i missed a gear .. lol i love dog leg boxes and even better when some idiot asked if i was going to paint it .. ha his face was a picture when i told him it was finished . locking my door and walking away laffing my tits off , carnt wait for weekend now nice little trip to local cool car show .

don't be tempted to paint it Paul...it looks like its been spared the usual thick coating of bondo/primer/surfacer....its much more interesting to see cars such as yours than all those over-restored ones at shows

Scruffy little car update ... took the car for spin last sunday to a great little car show ,what a blast ran well just little backfire in third when i thrashed the living day lights out of it ha , probably a liitle exhaust leak , any way such fun to drive . Looks like i need a new fuel sender it would only work when empty , had sender unit out and apart to find the little wires rusted up real bad . Spent hour cleaning it all up to snap the single bloody copper wire arrrr oh well it was pretty rough so a new ones been ordered couldnt be arsed to try and fix it, and with my 1 bloody eye i struggled to even see it ha any wy wekends here and would love to have gone to ddk drive but need to run it around a bit more to shake it down ..
