Adhesive for Rubber Door Seal

Post by Kenyon »

More DDK wisdom sought... The driver door rubber seal on my 356 has come off. I was wondering if there was a preferred glue to use. I did a little search and previous suggestion was Wurth Rubber Glue.

I usually just epoxy resin stuff. Any thoughts on whether I need a specialist product or can just go with the epoxy resin appreciated.

This is what trimmers use because you can get it off if you have to, but otherwise things remain stuck even if you park in the Sahara mid afternoon.

27 years ago I stuck my 911 seals in with good old Evostick and only last year one started to come off.
If you use it it is contact adhesive so you need to be sure in the position, BUT if any errors are spotted quickly, you can pull off and start again.
I will be using it again this winter.
Tedious, but you can clean the glue film off the rubber when dry buy your fingers. In doing this you realise just how long these seals are...

I use 3M weatherstrip adhesive - it does what it says on the tube...... but hard to get in the UK, i think there might be a 3m vinyl adhesive that's possibly similar

A company call Silmid I found on the web stock it in small quantities, cost is £21 per tube. It is very good though.

Thanks all. I was in B&Q and saw some Evo-Stik Contact adhesive and grabbed that. Will give it a go first.
