My 73 911 came to me with a 2.2 T engine bolted to the cars original 4 speed 915 box.
The clutch was 2.4 normal stuff as was the clutch system. The starter motor was the 2.4 item as was the fuel pump etc.
The car was on webers and I drove the car for 2 years in this form no issues except 110 bhp was far to light for hill climbs.
You would think it still had its 2.4 engine in place.

Yes, I had one fitted to my 2.2S engine, it came with it fitted, so not aware of any mods, it ran a std 915 clutch which I don't think is anything special. I would assume that the clutch cable was changed to suit the 915 mechanism, so look at a 2.4 cable.

No doubt an expert will be along to list if any other mods required, eg the gear change rod from the gear lever (?) and ofcourse if it is a mech or electric speedo
Cheers

My 2.4S engine was worn when I got it and I replaced it with a 2.2S engine, straight forward swap. Lasted years til I upped it to a 2.7 RS engine.

HI Chris

apart form the usual; clutch cable, gearbox mounting, Speedo (due to CWP ratio, age of doner box), Rev light wiring, gear lever/linkage

you will need a release bearing for a 915 gearbox to put in your clutch pressure plate, the center plate will also need to be changed to

the larger spline 915 input shaft,

unless you are able to get hold of a late 912 with the smallers splined input shaft, you will only need the release bearing to change and poss' the guide tube on the bellhousing

you will need a box that will also fit you drive shaft CV joints, or one that the out-put flanges can be changed

You will also probably need to carry out some minor 'tin bashing' around the 'hump' at the back of the tunnel to allow clearance for the bulkier 915 transmission ...

I took the question to be to fit a 2.2 T engine to the 915 box rather than fit a 915 box into a 2.2 car.
Looks like both 'conversions' are covered!

My car came to me with a 2.2 fitted into my 73T car which had its original 2.4 4 speed box.

The engine obviously had the 2.4 clutch/flywheel fitted.
It was a nice car to drive, just slow.
