3.2 Motor - Engine blower blanking plate

Morning all

My newly 1972 T has a "hotted" up 3.2 engine, complete with "heat delete" so the engine blower is stripped out BUT the large vertical plastic duct remains (blanked off at the top).

I've been told one can remove this plastic duct entirely and blank off at the bottom - it would be preferable to remove more "gubbins" and clean up the engine bay - has anyone got experience and more particularly a part number and/or supplier for this (which I believe may be a non-Porsche (ie aftermarket) part?

My '73 / 3.2 ran without a heater for 15 years as a hill climb car, road driven.
When I retired the car from such silly things the wife wanted a heater.
I made a blanking plate from fibre glass to cover the hole you mention, lasted those 15 years.
Going to heating was hard as finding those parts is tricky, esp the duct behind the distributor.

I'm (well the car is actually) half pregnant - most of the system is removed, which I'm happy with (as it is not strictly necessary in our warmer climes) but the vertical black plastic duct behind distributor is still in place.

This is unnecessary and I'd simply like to clean up the engine bay. My "problem" is the engine is very low mileage and spotless - I need a neat, properly made item otherwise it's going to stick out like a sore thumb! My skills are low-ish in terms of fabricating something, as is supply of time.....as well as wallet thickness...worst possible combination!

Fitting the SC one as described on IB.com will look better than the high duct you have at the moment assuming that its open at the top?

I hear you, but am still a little conflicted based on what I've been told. Does the LHS SC version still have a duct, rather than simply blank off this area completely (which is what I need)?

That Patrick motorsport one is the one I made in fibre glass, for the very same reasons of cost.

My engine is/was no show queen and raced for many years so appearance was not high on the list.
When I installed the heating ducting I threw it away I think or you could have it. If I come across it this weekend I will post a picture and you are welcome to it for a small cost to the DDK Charity if you think it is ok.
No probs if you can't stand it!

The SSc one has a duct outlet but would look neater than the standard plastic duct you have.

The Pattick MS one is what you really want, just buy it!

I was 100% sure I had what you're after but after having a quick look around the garage I can't find it

I just got home from Holiday about an hour ago so haven't look properly. I'll get out in the garage again tomorrow to have a better look.

T911UK (Matthew?) - I'm tempted to agree with you, but sadly I'm a bit sensible with money - with shipping and ludicrous duties we have here it'll be close to a $250 little piece of metal with is not strictly necessary and therefore doesn't represent value (I think).

I have to draw the line somewhere and would rather search a little more and spend the extra-over money somewhere else on the car in time...probably at Type911

If I can add....
The 3.2 distributor is a large diameter, far larger than the normal 2.4 type.
Thus, the left side plate needs a shallow depression in it to clear the 3.2 dist, this is why I made my own.
I can't tell if Barry's part had a depression area.
