Steering rack oil 911 T 2,2 my 1970

Hello Gentlemen

I don' t find tech specs about type of oil and quantity for zf steering rack.

Having fully dismantled and cleaned it during restoration I wonder about this issue.

It should just be re-greased. There is a chapter in the workshop manual that gives you the quantity of lithium based grease to use.

My memory is great... or is it because i did this job last week.

I'd also like to point you in the direction of two excellent posts from Chris at Fenn Lane Motorsport ("fetuhoe" on here).

About the pressure pad:

About the correct grade of grease:

to maintain the 'feel' of the rack it is best to use the correct grade of Liqui-Moly (LM47-L) Lubricant as too stiff a grease will make the rack feel 'sticky'.

Message to Chris: since I've just saved you 5 minutes replying, please can you use that time to kick the suppliers of my aluminium bumper corners up the backside?
