be interesting to see what they sell for. I have always done my own PPIs ( not recommended!) and have never been able to do a proper job of it at auction previews , which effectively puts me off bidding !

Estimates seem a touch on the low side, is that standard practice to get you excited?

This story is now round the World on at least two Continents and is making a bit of a laughing stock of our auction houses, our newspapers and our ddk knowledge.

I have suggested on another thread that the wording is close to deception. At one time perhaps we could call it ignorance but on this occasion I think there is a downright attempt (by someone) to hoodwink any potential buyer. A fool and his money are easily parted it is said but I think a small crowbar is being used here to facilitate the extraction of a quarter of a million pounds from some unsuspecting individual.

I suspect their poor journalism rather than the auction house claiming that... I would have thought the 3 owners (also mentioned in the Sun piece) might have triggered a common-sense filter.

Really don't think they are trying to be taken seriously.

Auction description says 2 miles on the odo - I doubt they are claiming that's the verified total mileage given that it's a full resto. And I strongly doubt that any serious buyer of a fully restored car would assume the 2 miles was total without checking.

Car itself is nice (I have seen it).

I posted the car on my Facebook page after carrying out the interior restoration & final assembly for the customer. Mike pointed out quite rightly the description and wording used by the auction house was incorrect.

Don't think the auction house were trying to mislead potential buyers just didn't understand the detail given by the customer an heard what they wanted to hear.
