Not as brave as the pricing - why pay that when you can get a custom built new one cheaper (I thought they were around the 500K mark)

I quite like the overpriced blue one, and the pre war one isn't too bad either, however, the important things to note: "60bhp" and "evocation", A pessimist would assume the seller is (a) exaggerating, so assume 51bhp, and (b) it isnt real. Its a Singer 9 dressed to look like a Le Mans. And then there's the price...... If i were shopping to buy a '30s sports car, and i really couldn't blag the readies from the mortgage/bank/etc to buy a Frazer Nash, then i'd buy an equivalent MG. Which at least will have always been a sports model from new and have potential for good, if noisy, horsepower to perk things up a bit. If performance matters stick to the 'Special' (evocation) and get a 12/4 Riley, But DO YOUR HOMEWORK, good prewar cars at sensible prices sell long before they need to go to auction. Auctions are the haunt of greedy vendors, iffy cars and big commissions on the way through.

In case you're new here, I'm biased, but my Father ( where it all started for me) bought a Singer 9 as his first car, loathed it, broke the crank (2 bearing) sold it broken and borrowed the money to buy a Frazer Nash, and lived happily ever after (apart from a brief and loathsome month with an HRG)!

Essential reading for anyone thinking of going prewar is "British Sports Cars" by Gregor Grant. W

My son was very taken with the pre-war stuff at Members' Meeting last year and this. Was one of those yours?
