Who makes the best replica 356 wheels or are they all the same. I guess I would like the most accurate best quality I can get unless someone has some real ones they want to sell

Just Kampers have started to produce their own 356-style steel wheel, which I have on good authority is of very high quality in terms of construction and finish. They are available in 4Jx15, 5Jx15 and 5.5Jx15 for £89.50 each.

I got mine off MWS (midland wheel services) a few years back, the centres are identical to the original Porsche ones, the rims are 5 1/2", my choice to get rid of the Commer Van look.
The valves are modern too, rather than the oversize original ones.
The car feels a lot different with these and 185/65 tyres rather than the original, old hard 165 tyres, a lot less slippy but also heavier.
Years since the replicas were made in Brazil, mine were in boxes with a Californian companys' name, but made in, erm, yes. You've guessed it China....
They were about £39 each, sold as seconds with supposed defects in the powder coating. Delivered free!

I don't know who makes 'the best' repro 356 wheels, but I normally spot a replica-wheel from a mile away...

There are several reasons...

First here is an original:


Notice:

- the form of the holes
- 10 holes
- the dimple in the outher rim where the valve is
- the location of the valve (always in the middle between 2 holes)

I would search for original Kronprinz or Lemmerz wheels and have them -if necessary- refurbished.

alloy replicas. owned by Coddington's son. immensely strong, light weight and good looking. have used them for years and been really impressed. don't go with any of the cast ally wheels: they're all heavy and will make the 356 feel like a truck.

alloy replicas are still trading - bought wheels from them last year.

I've decided I really need og wheels even though its actually for a vw project. I've placed a wanted add in the wanted section but thought I would mention it here.
