engine mountings

i'm baulking at paying £500-£600 for a set of engine and box mounts.....has anyone tried any different methods?, it seems there's plenty of room to fabricate bracketry to accommodate compressive-type mounts rather than the shearing type that are standard

What year is your car?

Early cars have the same mounts as the 911 68 year cars changed to the later rubber blocks i believe.

If your cr is later then you would have to change the engine and gearbox brackets to the early style to get the 911 mounts.

thanks Sean, mine is a 1969....i assume they changed to reduce vibes....did the later arrangement improve things?

Dunno if it reduces the vibrations. I have the early setup which I uprated with poly bushes as the rubber was 50 years old and past it's usefulness.

I have found that your local opc can offer a discount if you push them, Rose Passion in France are also very good for pricing genuine parts. Failing that stoddard in the states have them for 58 dollars each plus shipping and import duty.

I bought the Type C from Polymax, original ones are square blocks but these round ones cost about £6 each so worth a try!!
