What rear discs?

Post by bjmullan »

So as part of finally getting this car on the road I want to replace all of the discs. I know the 1969 year car was an one off disc which is very expensive but I have checked and my calipers are fitted with the spacer to allow 'normal' discs to be fitted. The question is should I just look for 2.2 (1970 - ) discs as suitable or something else?

1969 vented discs are standard to most LWB cars and are not special. Most disc makers catalogues specify the 1969 disc as being identical to the SWB car but this is an error. Sebro showed this incorrectly for years and it seems that this was commonly adopted by the industry.

If you have a caliper suited to a vented disc just order 901.352.041.14 and they will fit.

The SWB vented disc 1967-1968 is costly and only available from Porsche or SEBRO - you can modify an early 944 disc to suit.

The 'Solid' 1969 discs fitted to an LWB 911T and 912 were in short supply but I think they are now back in production.

Thanks for the info. I will pass it on to Duetchetek in Glasgow as I have decided that the only way I will get this car on the road this century is to get someone to do it for me.
