Front wheel bearing supplier ?

Post by stretch »

Is there an alternative recommended front wheel bearing supplier other than Porsche.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dave,

I have just had a set delivered from Design911. On opening the packet, I noticed they were actually in a box from Premier Bearings (a well known UK bearing company that I have used direct before). From looking at the bearings and shells, they look like a fairly standard set of taper rollers, so should be available direct from the bearing manufacturer if you know what to order. There was a Premier Bearing part number on the side but I don't have it in front of me at the moment. I'll update you later today if you want to try ordering direct (..and I'd be interested to know what they charge!)

Cheers,

Mike.

You can buy them on EBay as long as you are careful.

FAG Kits are about £24-£25 and a good brand.

You can buy a 'Lucas' Branded kit from ECP and these use a Timken Bearing now manufactured in Poland which are OK.

If you buy them on line today with the PAT55 Code they are £12.00 for inner and outer bearing with the oil seal.

Chuck the grease away and use something better. :)

Funnily enough I just ordered new front bearings today from simplybearings.co.uk.

The larger inner bearing is LM67048 and the smaller outer one LM11949. If you do a search for 45x62x10 (which is the size in mm) the search will find options for the rotary oil seal you'll need too. Along with a decent tube of grease I paid £50 for everything including shipping.

Looking at the Design911 pack - they're marked as 'BRT569', that gets you a box with inner, outer and oil seal.
