Ex Porsche Post, about 1989. He did a long article on sprints and hillclimbs (Arthor ?) that got me thinking as I screwed mine back together.
Pic is the car rounding the Mole Hill at Curbrourgh Spring Course.
I started there in 1991 myself but never saw the car in person.

Re: Oh yes another 1973 rhd 2.4E

Popped in to see Gary again today on my way past. He talked me through the restoration of the wiring loom which is now in and how every terminal has been acid dipped and soldered.
Also showed me a couple of brackets he has fitted on the oil pipes. Apparently during high revs these pipes can vibrate and fatigue so these brackets stabilise the pipes and also stop rubbing on engine casings.

Thankfully the internals of the cv joints were examined prior to fitting which revealed considerable wear.
Gary has a contact who is currently manufacturing new ones as these certainly won't be going back in

Original oil filler cap was removed from corroded tank (not original as an SC tank was fitted) and was fitted onto the new tank for a little back dating

Rear end looking good too!

That was cheap even back then . T,E and S's from memory only had a bout £1k - £2k price increments . 2003 I bought my S and at the time some S's were about £17k .

That's the plan but the motor hasn't been started yet and Redline point blank refused to let anyone other than them start it (for warranty) and won't go down to Gary's.grannysmith wrote:..is it going to make Spa?
Just waiting on clocks, cv internals and Gary knows a guy who is going to manufacture some new front hubs as mine are shot!

My house has lots of various drill rig parts scattered around considered scrap and £1000's to replace. Some things it just pains me to throw away!!inaglasshouse wrote:Make a nice desk ornament / paperweight, that CV joint cage.

Got a rover V8 cylinder block as a wine rack too. Helps when Shelly is bit of a petrol head

Re: Oh yes another 1973 rhd 2.4E
£9K in 2003 reads very cheap to me for such a car.
I paid £3K for my knackered but running bitza in 1989, LHD 911T 1973 running with a 2.2 T engine on webers and rotten, but with a very dodgy MoT.
That £9K was a bargain imho.

The unfortunate thing is that wasn't me who bought it in 2003
Unfortunately I didn't buy it till 2013

What's the 'DDK' thing to do with seat belts in the rear? Car didn't have any and I'm about to fit them as kids will want to go in the car. Just wanted to know which? I'm looking at 3 point fixed?

What people normally do is get the extra top anchor on the parcel shelf sorted while it's at Barry's...in bits.
I'm sure it's easily sorted Adam without too much...damage
