On a recent trip to Japan to buy some cars I viewed several 73 RS, one of which we bought. Another was, see below..........I already knew of the story behind 1316, so was not interested.

Hi Alan,

Do you have any other photos of this RS? This AL VIN tag is indeed from the original RS. There are several photos on the Pelican posted showing the trunk VIN. Also included is a blurry photo of the production number.

Do you happen to have a clear photo of the production number and engine serial number?

Thanks much.

Quite different from Nicks picture of the aluminium Vin plate from 10 years ago on the same white body.

Hi Mike,

I maybe misunderstanding you, but the photos in my post are not the same chassis as the Pesto car that Nick's photo shows. The blurry photo of the production number is hard to read, but the numbers I can make out (6 digits) match the number from the original car. Also look at my most recent post on the ESR in the RS for sale thread. There is something strange going on. The same guy on Pelican who posted the trunk VIN and PN of 1316 also posted exterior and interior shots of the rebodied RS 0068 (inferring those are of 1316) which is in Japan also. I am not sure what car the engine compartment shots are of.

I wonder if Alan saw both 1316 and 0068 in the same place, most likely at the dealer called Caesar Trading.
