Worse thing is I have to now explain to my mate why it isn't all that. I guess if it could be bought for the sum of its parts it would be worth it as an outlaw but I'm not sure I want to be that deep into something that needs a detailed explanation of itself when it comes to sell it!

If you posted some pics esp of the vin number(s) and also general pics there are plenty of guys here who will tell you exactly what the cars is and what its worth - possibly the best way forwards IMO. Also, if it is a genuine car, and you can get it for the right money then you'd be mad to pass it up. Just my 2p worth.....

The VIN is 9110111xxx
Putting it back to a lhd 70 is a better proposition than not having a late 70's vin on a 70's car.
I'll do some more checks. Will the vin number be visible anywhere else other than under dash? I assume it should have plate on window pillar. Anywhere else?

The VIN number is on the panel above the fuel tank on the LHS to the left of the smugglers box. Google 911 VIN number location and you'll see where it is. Not sure where you got the 9110111xx number from but doesn't sound right.....

The rear slam panel is an early type and pre 74........front end looks like a 'custom' modification!

Yes, looks like a genuine impact car. Did he buy or try to sell this on evil bay last year.? I phoned up about a Targa like this but walked away when i smelt a rat. Seem to remember that had also been registered as a 70-71 car. Reasons...? Cat D, ringer, free tax. Who knows.

I'm more inclined to say it could be any early car judging by the rear end (could never imagine a later car getting an early rear end?) and certainly appears to have a correct RHD bulkhead, hard to be certain from the photos posted......

.....you never know it could be both!

There are 4 items that must be checked to figure out what is there. The stamped VIN near the right front shock tower, the aluminium badge with the VIN, the production # from the lower dash frame hidden by the knee pads, and the paint code badge on the left door hinge post.

No that's not this car. He bought this 2008. He's had it sat in the garage ever since. It has extensive history so whatever has been done has been done a long time. Looking st the mismatched interior I'd say late 80's.
