HELP!

Post by delkel »

The 912 had another few hours spent on it yesterday with not a great result
It starts nicely and idles very well and sounds good. BUT after 10 mins of driving it starts missing , back fires a few times and eventually gives up. Leave it for 30 mins and it starts again!!!

So something fails due to heat! Any ideas what this might be anyone?

The fuel situation is fine. The carbs have been refurbed. Could it be the coil or dizzy or ht leads?

All possible solutions to this prob are very much appreciated .

Hi Barry
Thanks for that info, having read about how a car behaves with a bad condenser sounds exactly the issue.

Thanks again

Hi David

Just make sure it is a quality unit, Bosch should be OK. Some of the cheap ones only last a few miles before the symptoms start again.

I had been having very similar problems with mine for some time and messed about with everything that I could think of. It would sit idling perfectly for 20 minutes and then revs would start jumping about and it would finally give up. Same happened when driving.

Sent it down to Max at Revival and it was diagnosed as a distributor fault. After a distributor rebuild and a general service it runs great again.
