After buying a SWB 68 shell in the last few weeks, i have decided to sell the following 911 shell as it is now surplus to my requirements, and i could do with the space in the man cave..!
1968 T LHD sunroof coupe shell. I bought this shell two or three years ago from a fellow DDK'r to form the basis of a future SWB sports purpose build. The shell has a COA from Porsche which states it was an original German delivery car in Irish Green. This shell has a current V5 certificate although it was assigned a Q plate upon entry into the UK due to a lack of proof of age at the time of import. Now that it has it's COA it is a straight forward process to have an age related UK plate assigned to the vehicle.
I purchased the shell with virtually no suspension components but have purchased pretty much everything required to get the shell rolling over the last few years. Parts includes Front S koni struts with all brakes, steering rack, etc etc.
I will not dress this up, to be honest i don't have the time. The following is an honest appraisal.
What's for sale. A shell with rear quarters attached, as per the pictures. There are a couple of old door shells included but these will require repair and new door skins.
Front and rear suspension including front and rear brake calipers, that about it.
Good points.
There is no rot in the roof which is very rare for a sunroof shell. The front and rear scuttles are in very good order with no visible rot. The centre tunnel is in good order with no rot to the base flanges where it meets the floor panel. The inner sills inside the interior cabin are in very good order. Torsion tube area looks very solid.
Bad points.
The shell will require a complete new floor with the front tank support and the front suspension pan. This complete panel is available for around £1200. The rear inner quarters have signs of previous poor patch repairs.
The front slam latch panel will require replacement.
Summary.
A previous owner has obviously carried out some work to this shell as there is evidence of new outer sills, kidney bowls and B -post work. Obviously there will be more rot once the car has been dipped or blasted.
A perfect opportunity for someone to purchase a rarely available SWB 911 shell with a current V5 and COA. Build an R. TR or put it back as a standard road car.
