1975 Carrera

Post by squirdan »

Evening all

Am a bit out of touch on all matters Porsche so wanted to reach out to the DDK brains trust

I think there's always room in my life for something orange and this 75 Carrera caught my eye

But - the engine looks wrong to me?

Odd from an official Porsche Classic dealer

Thoughts appreciated!

Cheers and happy Xmas

It's a US-spec 2.7 Carrera which were fitted with a 165bhp CIS engine

Should be noted that the mid 70's 911's have shown the largest rise in value over the past 6 months aginanst all other Porsche 911's. The 74 US carrera is a slightly better car as has 175HP and is also c. 50kgs lighter. There are a few other differences between 74 and 75 US spec cars - the rear bumoers are larger on the 75, and the engine had the dreaded thermal reactors that caused head studs to pull out. Final dirve was also slightly longer, with slightly poorer acceleration. A 74 car would be a better buy at similar money or go the full hog and get the Euro spec MFI engine - but they're £200k - £250k. Plenty of other 911's for that sort of money.....
