915 gear knob

Post by 911GP »

Hello,
I need help from the gear knob oracles please. As you may be aware I have been looking for a 915 gear knob since the one I have is broken. I have been offered this one:

I know it isn't the best picture but can any of you advise on whether it is original? It seems to be original to me, but then I am a novice in these things.

Thanks
Gitesh

That is an original. The Bakelite is exactly the correct colour. There are tiny flecks of brown in the black. The numbers are the correct font and the all important 'corrugated' metal spacer is pictured.
Get a picture of the other end. They often split or crack when they have been pushed on too enthusiastically and if damaged there it will never fit snugly.

Regards
Mike

Thanks guys. The other end looked good too so I have bought it. Here is a photo of the other end for reference:

I should have posted this all in the Technical Advice section and will ask for it to be moved.
