Thanks Rich,
I cant find in the IVA manual any reference for a tell tale light for "hand brake on" but sure there needs to be one. Also can this be amalgamated with the fluid level in any way?

Hi Greg

If you use the brake/fluid failure symbol (0) you can use this with the handbrake. That way it gives you and indication the circuit is working. Same as new cars really.

One of those frustrating days when you don't really quite know what you are doing and the guys with more knowledge are struggling. Between three of us managed to design a warning cct for the Hand brake and fluid low level and the switch. So I had to modify the hand brake to activate a tell tale when released and run cable/s up the tunnel to the fuse board area. Also ran the brake fluid low level switch wires to the same area which is close to the switch on the dash. Once I get the five pole relay and connect the wires the operation should (fingers crossed) work. The plan is if you pull the hand brake on it operates the tell tale light (Bright) and if the fluid goes below a safe level the same tell tale operates bright. If you push the switch the light comes on bright to prove cct is working. When the side lights are on the switch should light but dim. I also managed some more tidy wire jobs. Most of the wiring ccts are complete. I believe I only have the brake warning to finish and heated screen left to do. I am also going to add heat shrink around each connector/ joint to protect against moisture and looks good too! So maybe another couple of days work. :)

Hi Greg.

Wouldn't bother heat shrink on each joint, pain in the arse when fault finding. What you need is some of this stuff for all your electrical joints. Works really well, in fact l went all over the car and dabbed a bit on each electrical joint. Think l picked it up at the Nec Classic show, but if you google it I'm sure you'll find a merchant.

Rich - found their site looks like a very good product will get some ordered. Take your point about the time taken to heat shrink sleeve.

I have now finished the brake warning cct which seems to work really well. So the last cct will be for the heated screen. Anyone got any tips for tidying the dozens of wires under the dash?

At last a leap forward, all the electrical circuits are now working as they should. The cables/ wires in the engine bay have been tidied up and protected. The area under the bonnet is tidy waiting to be hidden behind a dash screen/ carpet which just leaves me with the spaghetti under the dash

Wire loom designed to come from one side so that I could fit the fuse board/ relays etc into a waterproof box, if I could find one.

The wiring is now all tied up, not perfect but will be covered by various carpet sections and covers, which is shame its all going to be hidden. One or two snags to completed but everything works.

Rich - Yes still plan to look at IVA testing this year, slight concern will be the amount of time need to spend on finishing the house after the extension build, which may push me into early next year. There is quite a number of items on the IVA "to do" list which need addressing and quite a few items on the build list including fitting the windscreen. :)

Morning,

Working on the house ready for Christmas as meant very slow progress on the Speedster. Thats my excuse for not making it to IVA test. The plan is to get the geometry set properly and get the carbs tuned so the engine runs better, hopefully very early in the new year. With a little work should be able to get ready for IVA in 2017!

Optimistic dream but would love to drive to 24 hrs Le Mans in June!

So arrange these components into a through the bonnet fuel fill collar;
Image

It makes into a tower which still needs to be welded;

Image

Slide rings either side of the bonnet and bolt together and cut the aluminium tubes to the correct length once in place;

Image

So difficult to show when it not finished; red lines are the bonnet, blue are the aluminium section and the black lines are the fuel neck and tank

Have a great Christmas :)
