....I have a 2.2S engine coming and a firm idea so would have been a cheap way into a SWB!

The problem for me is that the car ultimately needs a £50-£80K resto and yet will always be a 912 so hard to justify in my mind and think I'd be better paying more for a similar 911 shell.

However cheap entry into early Porsche ownership for someone with the skills to build their own car and could become a very nice modified 912 similar to Jamie's car .....

Not really as far as the shell/build is concerned, when doing the metal you'd just turn it into a 911 and nothing wrong with building a 912/6 although personally if I was starting with a 912 I'd rather keep it a 912 and that's not the plan......

.....I've never gone into a restoration with a view to sell the car or with a plan to gain financially however if there ever came a time when I had to sell it would be nice to get out what you put in.......the dfference in value might only be the premium you'd pay for a 911 anyway although it would be far more desirable and easier to move on?

I don't think you'll find an SWB 911 shell for £4500 though.

But if you're doing another mongrel, then why not? Or... sell the 2.2S motor and spend the money on doing this 912. Or spend more time enjoying the two cars you already have.

I'm on a clobber-purge at the moment - can't stand the thought of taking on another vehicle project.

I think £4500 is a great price for that given the work already done. No engine etc, so why not muck about with it and stick a nice motor in it. Although my plans of sticking the 2.2 motor I bought in the back of my 912 were completely scuppered last week when i took it to the Evo Triangle with the other boys who write for Total 911 and found that none of the 997 turbos could keep up with me on the twisties, I'm keeping my 912 a 912. Love it.

It's like 10min from me but the guy is a disaster.. Got a reply to my first text to say its still available, however no response to phone calls or further text messages trying to arrange a visit.. Was considering it as an alternative to the 356 coupe project but if people are that much hard work to deal with I really can't be arsed

....I was very much like that initially but have started to miss the day to day involvement with Barry, Nick, Gary et all as much as anything!

Anyway, as you say I'm lucky to have two wonderful cars at my disposal and as neither is going anywhere another project isn't really an option........

....for now I'll just keep quiet and enjoy what I have!
