Amazing sale but no Porsche content I'm afraid.

Post by Mike »

So maybe the market hasn't quite crashed as much as I thought!

Only just being talked about now but apparently a 1962 Ferrari GTO sold quietly last month through Simon Kidston.
Chassis 3809GT was known as a 3rd rate car by the experts due to it's non original GTE engine, and the fact that it
had been rebodied a few times, with the front still not having the right profile.

Probably why it only made 45 million dollars......

Joking aside, and I don't know if all GTOs are like this but look at the windscreen/side window fit/alignment compared to the car behind. ON the one behind (250 SWB?) the windscreen aligns with and flows into the side window frames on the GTO it, well, doesn't.
The simple things you see are all complicated
I look pretty young but I'm just backdated yeah

An American friend of mine, who's now in his 70's used to own three of those. He paid $4,500 for the first one in the late sixties and he sold the last one in ( I think) 1979 ( but may have been 1989) for a world record price of $285,000 !!!
