MoT Fail - grump
How frustrating, had a pre-MoT check at the place I would use for MoT. Fixed all the things mentioned. Then had to take it to a different place as the first place no longer does MoTs and of course it failed...
1 No rear fog light - I could have argued that it doesn't need one as it's first use is before 1/4/80, but there were some valid failures
2 Tyre with bulge
3 Ball joint dust cover failed on nearside track rod end
4 Rear anti-roll bar hitting the underside (nasty after-market affair with a bend in the bar to clear the chassis - fitted the wrong way round!).
Also noticed on the way back that the indicator tell-tale doesn't work and as I won't get all the above fixed in time for a re-test, I ought to attend to that as well.
Hey ho, we'll get there one day!

You don't need a rear fog light, that's nonsense. Never had one, never been picked up on it. I would suggest your mot man needs to check his facts.

Re: MoT Fail - grump
On further inspection there are three tyres with bulges. So a new set is coming. Balljoint is off awaiting the new one. And the anti roll bar is off too. Vile aftermarket shite!

All easy fixes, but the 4 new tyres will be an expense but you can't put a price on safety.
As Middlefour says you don't need a fog lamp.
Good luck 2nd time around, and I'm not surprised the first place no longer do MOT's if they missed these basics.

Tyres look to be £50 to £60 a corner even for premium tyres. So not too bad.

I thought that rear fog light(s) have to be working if fitted and is mandatory for all post '78 cars?
