Tyre choice

On looking at my tyres for the MoT, the rears have both got bulges so have to go, I'll check the fronts. They are currently budget tyres and I'd prefer to run 'good' tyres.

What brands to people favour (if any)? They are 195/65x15 if it matters. Even the premium brands are cheap it seems.

I had some toyo proxes - CF2's I think on mine before I put some soft track tyres on. I also did a couple of hillclimbs on them and I have to say they were very good. Possibly as good as the track tyres I have now

As a thought, the 195s that are on there seem to fit ok, but I am aware that the actual dimensions of tyres vary even with the same size designation. I'm wondering if that might cause me clearance issues with other brands.

Go for standard factory sizes, you can't go wrong then, plus they should not only clear all arches and suspension, the spare will fit in the well and the speedo will be accurate and in the event of an insurance claim you'll be scott free.
I got original, new full profile Michelin's from Vintage tyres in Beaulieu.

Sadly that will need new wheels as well I suspect as my wheels are probably too big for 165s. And 5 tyres not 4.

Have Dunlops on my 911, Blu Response Sports, £40 odd per corner.

Seems a good all-rounder, speedo very accurate, no need to be nervous of Gatzo's...and quiet too.
A rated for wet weather.

I have 185/70R15 89H Vredestein Sprint Classic so they should be the same as the original fitting (like the Avons)

they are around £100 a corner, I think the Avons are more expensive but are more grippy.

Ive not used them yet so I cant say what they are like.

A quick look at my haynes seems to give 165/80s as original fitting. Would 185s have been an option?
