Re: Restoring my first 914
Adam my son passed his driving test this afternoon in his Morris Traveller that we’ve running-restored between us!

There’s some odd rules about the type and fittings on a car that needs to be met so you can take a Driving test in it. One is a seat for the examiner that has a fitted headrest. Suffice to say an old Moggie has no headrests and slip on ones are not permitted so we knocked up an adapter frame (using the original seat fixings so no extra holes required) and had it powder coated to look the business.

Then fitted an old Audi seat I had in my shed.

Looked real odd but met the rules. He's learned with me only in the Morris, no mod cons, synchromesh on first or power steering, morse code operated brakes and 1000cc of pure Austin Morris stallions under the hood....PROPER driving!
In the middle of a stair rod thunder and lightening storm, Adam took his test this afternoon, and passed first time with flying colours in the Morris.
This is one very proud dad!

Got him a classic car policy and with it comes the ability to drive ANY classic car over 20 years old with the owners consent, the cheeky git asked me straight away within 2 hours of passing his test if he could take my old Aston out and what the Delorean & 914 was like to drive in LHD..
Quick folks hide your keys…..

Don't be mean Darren. Let the lad drive all of yours cars. What possible harm could he do?

Re: Restoring my first 914
Most excellent news for you both, fantastic for him with a really cool ride.
Years back my Morry 1000 was simply brilliant, good luck to him.
Let him have a go in the 914 to quell his appetite and cheek and then ask to borrow the 1000.
A picture there to treasure
