Twin carb linkages

Post by Dean.s »

I've used twin carbs on type 1 engines in the past with my favoured type being the bell crank linkages from csp.

I'm having trouble getting confirmation from them about their type 4 kit.

I have standard cooling and the taller manifolds with weber 40idf's. On the csp site they onlt have one listed which is for systems with porsche fan cooling.

For those running twin idf's with stock cooling what linkage have you got installed?

Hi Dean,

Take a look in my restoration thread for ideas. If you can wait a few weeks I'm looking into development, manufacuture and sale of a dedicated 914 "carb linkage kit" plus I'm looking for an independent person to test it

I upgraded to a cable system from Jake Raby years ago and never looked back. So superior to a cross bar linkage. Simple and accurate to balance the carbs and stay that way for evermore. Loved the product and would never go back to cross bar linkages or push/pull linkages again for twin carbs. I believe Jake's system was called "Sync Link" which is the one I have but I think Chris Foley at Tangerine Racing has a similar system for sale too.

Darren, it will be a couple of weeks before I physically need the linkage and I don't mind trialing something new.

Might, I checked out tangerine racing website and it does look good. I don't think Jake raby does it anymore. Possibly did a limited numbers run as far as what I found suggests.

I'm a bit hazy but I think...

The sync-a-link was designed & sold by a Samba contributor as a hobby sideline. I think Jake sold it with agreement from the original maker and Tangerine Racing allegedly copied it (which didn't go down well on certain forums).

Not that hard to make your own version.
