66 spline size

Post by delkel »

Hi 912ers
Firstly , great show of 12s at Stanford hall yesterday , hopefully have mine there next year !!!
Question, looking for a spare steering wheel for the 12 ! Not sure on the spline size for it! Is it just the number of teeth or diameter also?
Would appreciate any info .

Thanks

David

David

It's the same size as 356c and early 911. Moto lita have a boss as well as momo.

If you're aiming to fit an aftermarket steering wheel you'll need the relevant Porsche-specific hub/boss for that steering wheel.

As Sean states, the hub you need will only fit 356B/C, '65-'74 911, '65-'69 912 & '70/'71 914/6 models.

They're the same – if you're thinking about trying to find a wheel from an another make of car entirely, then the chances are pretty slim, except maybe a VW Beetle of a certain age....

Sorry left early as the Mrs was full of woman flu. (apparently that is worse than man flu and curtails all fun. So i am told)

Remember its a ten foot car with your eyes closed

I have a moto lita hub down the garage and will measure it for you if you really want. I seem to remember 40 splines somewhere in my memory but let me check

All helps
The hole pattern on the boss that would marry up with the actual wheel would be a good measure also.hole to hole across wheel. I know I am going on about this but I have seen a wheel I might purchase and it would be good to get the correct one.
I think spline number and diameter would be very helpful.
Shame i missed you Sean, hope your other half is feeling ok!
One 12 was pushed out !!!! Well pushed for a bump start!!!!

It's buried at work but know it has 6 holes on the outside flange to mount onto the wheel, hope this helps a bit more??

If it helps, the correct hub model numbers for your car are:

Momo - 0230, C230 or L230 (depending on age/depth of hub - all will fit)

Nardi - 0146

Moto Lita - F9
