electrical parts lights etc

Post by Dean.s »

Having looked at a few forums and websites most of which are usa or netherlands & germany i'm not sure what parts to buy for uk legal use.

I need front indicators complete with lenses, housing and seals. I also need the side repeaters and a right front headlight complete with cover and mechanism. I need to ensure the headlights are for uk use so need them to be for right hand beam. I've looked at the knowledge thread and his suggests either mini 7" or angel eyes. What have people fitted here to be legal? I will also need new rear lenses for uk use.

Any suggestions for the lighting would be appreciated

Hi,

All you need is a pair of standard 7" RHD beam pattern headlights available from numerous suppliers. Avoid the angel eyes. These use the halo as your side light. Not appropriate for a pop up light car which is wired to pop up only when switching to dipped beam.
From your post I take it the car is coming from the USA? In which case you just need the front side light & indicator combination lights (euro spec)
Side markers can either be retained or removed ......personal choice, either is uk legal so no work here unless you want to convert them to indicators or remove and blank.
US Rear lights have red indicator lenses. Not legal in UK unless fitted to a pre 1965 car. Some owners "get away" with them, just depends on how flexible your MOT tester is and how knowledgeable PC plod is for pulling you over.
Otherwise its a set of amber euro rear lenses.

Basically headlights and front side/indicators (the oval forward facing units). Rear lenses are at your discretion/risk.

Good luck and remember there's plenty of good folk and information on here that will help out. :)
