Great day, gutted I missed it but just unable to fit in the 610 mile round trip on a busy family weekend... Cars looked great and I'm sure Barry was suitably touched. You may have just started a trend
Great idea Darren!
I'll be popping down next week to catch up all being well :)

Hi Adam,
We all had a go at your car. Barry lent us some hammers and a welding thing and stuff. Think you'll be impressed. Cheers, Richard.

^. Bugger, I thought that was just a big practice piece. Lots of holes is better for cooling though.

Indeed a good way of showing appreciation, I love to follow all the threads with the Master's skillful work work put into them.
Big thanks from someone who's not been Barry'd!

Thanks Richard, just so long as it was the front end that hasn't been done yet
Did you offer to give him a hand putting the roof on?? Can't believe he does all this stuff on his own!

Well, what an amazing surprise that was!

There I was, expecting Darren to pop in. Heard the familiar sound of a 911, but was it? Something wasn't right :? . Sure enough, Darren's hotrod 911 appeared at the top of of the drive .... followed by another, and another and another ....

I have to admit it was a bit of an emotional moment to see all of those cars and familiar faces arriving.

It was a magical morning, and the fact that many had travelled serious distances to visit made it particularly special.

I've been messing around with 911's (we think) for about fourteen years, and joined DDK nearly twelve years ago. In that time I've made so many good, good friends, to the extent that the cars and my work have become almost incidental.

It's been a real journey from when I bought my first 911 from my chum Mark, and we literally towed it from his barn the five miles to my place. No trailer, just a decrepit, highly rusty Suzuki jeep pickup and some iffy rope. It nearly made it, right up until a rear wheel bearing broke up outside a primary school at kicking out time. A faded-to-pink flat nose 1980's throwback complete non-pop-up pop up headlights, black leather everywhere and even a Chaka Khan cassette in the deck. I'd have never guessed where it could possibly lead!

It's been brilliant sharing my journey here over the years, but that's nothing compared to sharing in, and witnessing, the DDK spirit time after time, year after year.

Thank you so much to all those that supplied images, to those that took time out to visit, and especially to Darren, the mastermind of a wonderful plan. It's a day that I'll cherish for life.

Again, thank you.

Barry had already given me a set of these however another saddo was desperate to put his car 'right' before the engine was fitted and they were used here.....

A great idea from Darren, sorry I couldn't make it.
Nice to see many happy customers (another here) and a very happy Barry with a proper wide smile on his face 8)

Gary71 wrote:Excellent. Really great idea in the true DDK spirit. Part of my rear quarter and the bottom of the LH front wing are Barry, but not had the full treatment yet!
Sorry Gary I wasn't aware, would certainly have let you know.........I'm sure there's a fair few more we all missed that must visit DDK on occasions! :?

I think Barry has worked on 40 odd early Porsches since he started, a few more framed photos and he'll need a bigger workshop! :)

Good to see so many of Barry's efforts together. He's not too bad a tin basher, is he?
