VDO dash light coming on (white)

Post by rinkster »

Morning All,

I was out in the car this weekend and had the VDO (below the temp guage) lamp start flickering then came on showing white. I checked the handbook and learnt this was the handbrake warning light.

I wondered if anyone had come across this before and might be able to suggest where to start looking for the problem.

Cheers

The micro switch is at the back of the handbrake lever. If you look on one side at the back you'll see an adjustment screw in a slot that allows you to move the switch inside up or down so the contacts make when the lever is pulled, but break when it is depressed fully. I suspect some adjustment of this will sort your problem. If not then the switch or one of the contact arms might have failed in which case you need to remove the handbrake lever to get access to the inside - a faff/fiddly job that needs 3 hands and prehensile fingers. Take one of the seats out before you start ...
