Robert Barrie trackday Goodwood
A good showing of Porsches today - in age order
65 car I think, was obviously "tricky to drive"
72/3 car, STish, looked fairly period correct, nice car
Bootsy-esque Replica, think it was a 3 litre on PMOs
991 GT3RS first one id seen in the metal. Thuggish!
Finally an arty effort..911 and paddock

Re: Robert Barrie trackday Goodwood
Just paid to join the GRRC, the application mentioned private track days so hoping to get the Mongrel around there at some point.
Looked like a great day for driving Dan, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Robert, another great day in the glorious Goodwood sun. Good to see you there Dan, even if you've headed a bit off-piste car wise these days.

Did you spot that the red MX5 race car shown in front off the GT3RS was both left and right-hand-drive? Apparently built for driver training so you can swap on the fly, it had duplicated and connected steering wheels and pedals...!
Re: Robert Barrie trackday Goodwood
That sounds really safe ...... What an excellent idea.
Looks like a nice day, thanks for posting.

I hate to imagine the chaos which would ensue if I went out in that with my wife....yoda wrote:That sounds really safe ...... What an excellent idea.
We reset the trip info in my friend's Boxster when refuelling at lunchtime, and as we left it showed signs of an afternoon well spent

Re: Robert Barrie trackday Goodwood
Ouch!
Whats Goodwood like from a drivers perspective? Always fancied it, but its a bit of a trek from me and doesn't come up much on the typical track-day listings..

Fast, scary, challenging but rewarding and noise limits ensure there are never more than 10 cars on track at once so despite the track being mega dangerous, I feel the overall risk is q low. Well worth a trip!

Re: Robert Barrie trackday Goodwood
sounds good! do you know what the noise limit was out of interest?
building an exhaust system for my car next month, and trying to make something that meets the limits for most of the tracks I'm likely to visit.. I'm probably going to need a "decibel devil" or similar insert for a few of the more strict days, and I'm not designing the thing around some of the more ridiculous requirements but would be good to know I'm there or thereabouts up-front

Re: Robert Barrie trackday Goodwood
goodwood is always either 98dB or 105, advertised in advance.
most trackdays are more relaxed but have drive-by noise limits of 101+
in essence on an older 911 anything other than a bog std single exit silencer will fail most "quiet days"
its a combination of engine noise, clutch slap and exhaust noise
see the photos of the white one with extra outlets that you can probably cap off...not a bad option

Re: Robert Barrie trackday Goodwood
I don't have a 911 unfortunately (see non Porsche video of the day for a "headers only first start-up ) but I know they're a problem with everything at the back
My problem is 6x throttles at the front and exhaust noise at the back but I reckon sub 98db is achievable as "standard", and -2 or 3 with an insert to get me under 95
Thanks for the info
