Can anybody help with this please? I thought it was a date code. X61 suggests October 1961?? Thanks

Do not know about the X, however the 061 should be the last 3 digits of the car VIN if the panel is original to it.

Agreed. The stamp is usually up by the hinge on the rhs of the bonnet.
