Registering imported 914. Help please.

Hi,

I' e just got the DVLA paperwork through and the form is the usual gobbledegook clear as mud type affair.

Looks like I need a 'Certificate of Conformity' from Porsche for the 914. Is that correct? Do I ring them up? Is there a charge?

Any help on this would be great.

Ignore that section - doesn't apply to classics. What you need is proof of age, and in most cases the original title doc is adequate.

Piggybacking your thread Jonny, as I am in the middle of completing the V55/5, like you.

There are plenty of other threads here saying "Just ignore the Certificate Of Conformity"...
But there is no Certificate Of Conformity "Section": Over half of the fields on the V55/5 form are fields for which the notes say "Take this information from the Certificate Of Conformity".
- Should we fill these in, using info from the interweb? (things like cylinder capacity, wheelbase etc are easy to look up)?
- Or do we just leave all these fields blank, in case completing some but not all leads to a DVLA checker to reject as 'partially compkleted form'?

When I registered my car last year, much of the form was left blank, so don't worry. I got the paperwork back in just a few days, all OK.

BTW, I found the staff on the end of the phone at DVLA very friendly and helpful when I checked up on progress, so if you're in any doubt, don't be afraid to give them a call.

I did mine in November and included the Certificate of Origin, DVLA turned the application around in 5 working days

I did mine in December, Most questions were n/a

As said before ignore anything that refers to certificate of conformity

I also got a letter of origin from porsche for £65

I also sent Mot,
cheque for £55 ,
photocopy of invoice from dealer where car was purchased,
insurance 30 day cover note,
photocopy of a utility bill,
photocopy of driving license.

Not all of these were necessary but I wanted to over do it rather than get it rejected.

I called DVLA a few times and they were always helpful

Log book arrived 1 week later
