69 hazard light switch - 4 pin or 6 pin?

Post by Timo »

I've just purchased a used 69 hazard light switch for my 912 but looking at the rear of the switch it only appears to have 4 male connection points for the wires, from memory I'm sure the one on the car has 6 connection points. After doing a little digging on the internet the info I have found seems to point towards 4 pin being swb (68 and earlier) and 6 pin being 69 only? Can anyone clarify or were there 2 different types offered during 69? It certainly has the correct knob for my car which I understood to be one year only. Or maybe someone has fitted a 69 knob to a pre 68 switch?

Any help appreciated.

I believe the 69MY hazard switch is unique and one year only.

Thanks Mike and fgmec, looks like the one I have is slightly different then :(

Does anyone know why the 69 ones are different? Why did 69 versions require 6 pins and earlier cars only require only 4?

Maybe because they had a light in the knob?
