Thought it was about time I introduced myself...

Post by Ollie »

Hi,

I've been lurking on the forum and a member for a little while and this is long overdue!

As long term VW owner having had splits since i passed my driving test i thought I would dip my toe in Porsche world with a 912. Purchased from the states in September 2014 it is currently awaiting work to get it back on the road.

It needs floorpans, sills, front wings and an engine rebuild. I want to get it on the road and driving before thinking about a full resto.

Some pictures...

Lovely car, loving the steels. Welcome to DDK. BTW what is that colour, difficult to tell by the pics.

Thanks!

It was originally ivory white, i'm pretty sure the current colour is Champagne Yellow, although it's really oxidised at the front of the car.

The sills are in a bad way which is hopefully the worst of it, the dealer I bought off was really honest about the condition so when it arrived there were not any surprises, it fact it was better than I was expecting - which was a relief as i brought blind!

Its a matching numbers car that has spent most of its life in San Diego, not too many owners and i am in contact with the last owner so have a bit of history and a few stories.

I think that the side trim will have to go.

Wheels wise i'm torn between, the steels and gas burners (in silver). I'll see what turns up over the next year before its on the road. I already have a set of 5x130 comics but they're going on my split.

Regards,

Ollie
