The difference a week can make in 914 prices

Others may have seen this already...admittedly what appears to be a very nice example. On 22nd August sold at auction for £16k, one week later for sale at dealer for £8k more. Obviously I have no idea if any "improvements" have been made since the auction, and I totally get that a dealer needs to make money (and provide a great service, which these folk may well do).

That is a lovely 914. Clean, solid and honest. Looks like low mileage use too so that mileage reading might be right. Very nice!

I'm not normally one to get all anal about details and accuracy etc but one thing I do know (or so I thought) is that only early 914 s ('71 ish) had the fixed passenger seat without a headrest - which that one appears to have - yet it's a '75.

Have I got it wrong ? (Kevin ?)

It's also got the early dash without fresh air vents on the ends and an early rear valance.
£24k seems a lot!

It's looks like it has smooth door cards and it has the off white headlamp surrounds - both early features I think. Maybe they just made a mistake in the title though they do state in the text that it's a late car

I ran this past the gurus on 914world and all the replies agree that it's a '70 or '71.
(Chrome bumpers, white headlight surrounds, center dash vent, no plastic shield on fresh air vent on pillar, steel wheels and VW hubcaps, fixed passenger seat, early style jack, mounting bracket and location in rear trunk. Early style chrome trimmed heater/ventilation controls on dash. Early style ignition switch on steering column)
None of which directly affects the price of course - 914 prices are obviously on the up and I suppose an older car with low miles is rarer than a newer one. I imagine it may just turn out to be a simple typo but you do wonder how at least 2 'professionals' can get it so wrong.

No question, this is definitely 70-71 model year 1.7
I have seen it before that a 914 has been described as the wrong model year and then bought by a dealer who then uses the same info to sell it on.

Maybe an Italian car and has been described as a '75 as this was when it was first registered in the UK
