Pressure plate for 912
I am rebuilding my '68 912 and appear to have lost the clutch friction plate in the process.
The pressure plate looks good, and the release bearing feels smooth, so I don't think I need to buy a whole clutch kit.
The pressure plate is 200mm diameter. I read that a VW Transport friction plate will do the job - is this true? They're much cheaper (no Porsche tax).

Re: Pressure plate for 912
Jamie,
from my knowledge the friction plate should be OK, the pressure plates are different between a VW and Porsche re fingers and the ring
Hope that helps

Jamie not wanting to steer you away from DDK but http://www.912bbs.org/vb/forum.php is the fountain of all 912 knowledge. Do a search or ask and you will get an answer pretty quickly.

Re: Pressure plate for 912
Thanks for your help guys. Digging into it on the 912 BBS, it appears the VW 200mm clutch will fit, but the thickness of the disc new is the thickness of the Porsche part at its wear limit.
Angus - I ordered a new disc (£160) - I'll report the dimensions so we can cross-reference against the VW ones you have. If they're the same, I'll return it take one of yours instead!

but I'm sure it's worth that extra £130 even if it has exactly the same dimensions?jamie wrote:Thanks for your help guys. Digging into it on the 912 BBS, it appears the VW 200mm clutch will fit, but the thickness of the disc new is the thickness of the Porsche part at its wear limit.

Re: Pressure plate for 912
Ours are correct spec. for Porsche 912 & 914. They are not for VW.
9.4mm thick
I couldn't tell you what make they are but we have used 6 of the 10 we brought back from the USA without any issues.
