UK Registered 1969 RHD Porsche 912 - How Many?

I have a 1969 UK registered and RHD Porsche 912 project car stashed away for when I run out of projects, think I will need to live to at least 125 years old before I can see me getting around to working on it

It has most of the interior, bodywork but missing engine and gearbox. There is a bit of a paper trail that came with it, need to dig it out to remind myself what is there.

Was planning to chop it up for a 917 space framed inspired pre-73 sleeper build but know thinking the right thing would be to restore it back to stock or an Outlaw 912.

I've never seen a RHD 69 on any forums, shows or for sale so I'm interested to know how many were made and how many sold in the UK?

I think your 69 RHD 912 is a very rare car. It is the only one I've ever heard of!
There were 25,621 swb 912's made and only a very few RHD.
Against this there were just 4679 lwb 912's made. So a RHD lwb must be like hens teeth.
Restore back to original!

I'd be interested to know more about your car, I almost bought a RHD 69 car some years back (probably about 8 now?) It was a white (or ivory maybe?) car, it was a bit of a project and had engine issues, so I decided against it in the end, from memory the number plate was COP???G

Just found a pic on my work computer, I was almost right on the number plate, all the right letters but in the wrong order!



Would love to know what happened to this car, always thought it could have been a bit special when done.

desert rat, I've not seen or heard of one too, can any say how many are registered with PCGB

Timo, sorry, mine is very faded red and an 'H' reg, not even sure if that is the original colour as I bought it unseen and had it put straight into storage as I was living abroad

I have a few pictures from when I bought it 5yrs ago but don't have an online photo account so I'm unable to post them up

If I remember correctly you bought it off an Ebay aution, not sure if it had the engine then

I've done nothing with it but I'm going to start collecting up the missing bits to hopefully make it good again.

Yes that's correct it was on ebay. The only thing I have is the set of fuchs flat 6's that it came with, not original to the car. The engine and box was missing back then. It came with a set of carbs and a few other bits but all have long gone.
It was a pretty rough shell back then I remember.
Didn't realise how rare it was though.

Just found the Logbook, VIN no. is 129000228

First registered 10 July 1970, it is a 69 build so does this mean it was imported from another RHD country or just sat around at the factory or dealer until first registered? Any ideas what VIN is for the last RHD manufactured?

Does anyone one know what engine serial number I should be looking to find for the correct date match as a friend has for sale a 912 engine serial no. 1282426
